The second book in the internationally bestselling Clifton Chronicles from master storyteller Jeffrey Archer"One of the top ten storytellers in the world." Los Angeles Times
On arrival in America, Harry Clifton is arrested for first degree murder, for killing Bill Bradshaw. He is tried, found guilty, and sentenced to death by the electric chair. Meanwhile Emma goes to London to give birth to Sebastian, Harry's child. On visiting Maisie to introduce her to her grandson, she becomes convinced that Harry is still alive. With the help of Sir Walter, she goes to America in search of Harry, where she must then fight to save his life.
Meanwhile, when Sir Walter dies, Hugo takes over the Barrington shipping line, but manages to run the company into the ground, and when war is declared, Giles Barrington leaves Oxford to join the Gloucestershire Regiment, gaining respect and eventually glory in the military.
And as the war progresses, Sebastian is brought up by his grandmother, Elizabeth Barrington. As a young man, he falls in love with the sister of a school friend, whose father is an Argentinean businessman who has made a fortune in arms dealing to both sides during the war.
The Sins of the Father is part of The Clifton Chronicles series, but can be enjoyed as a stand-alone novel.

Great read.

The Lion King
I started reading the chronicles with Only time will tell and now just finished the second one and am about to start the third. My family must be missing me as I cannot put these books down.

Not up to number 1
Tended to jump around far too much. Parts of the story just vanished only to pop up with many unanswered questions. However, I will certainly buy book number 3.

A compelling read typical of Archer
As the second book in the Clifton Chronicles, Jeffrey Archer writes with his usual engaging style and the book keeps you turning the pages right till the end... Although the end itself feels too abrupt..

Hmm
I loved the first book and could not wait to get into this one. However I feel a bit frustrated with this portion of the saga. I felt like we didn't really make any progress from beginning to end. The ending was, well boring, I thought. I still love the characters and they alone will ensure I read the last book, but the story was a bit messy for me. Just my opinion tho. (still a massive archer fan!)

Sins of the father
Really disappointing - I absolutely loved the first book and just couldn't put it down. Eagerly I bought this one as soon as it came out but maybe I expected too much. This seems to be a rehash of Jeffrey Archer's own Prison Diaries in many ways. The story has hardly developed and is not as fast paced as its predecessor. Hopefully the final book will restore my faith in Archer as an author.
